"My vision for my 'work' is that while I approach it in a utterly professionally way, it never feels like work as such, but rather has a smoothness and flow to it that enables me to take your ideas and dreams and transform them into something that will delight and serve you for many years to come."
From an early age, I've gained a lot of pleasure from working with wood, whether it be making houses out of lollipop sticks or model building out of balsa, wood was always part of my life.
Having received a firm grounding in woodwork in technical college in Dublin I moved to London in 1987 for a broader work base and life experience. Since that time, I've worked with numerous aspects of wood from constructional carpentry to fine bespoke cabinet making.
Now, although I prefer the exactitude of cabinet making over that of carpentry, what for me ties them both together, are two things:
Firstly, to take an idea from the imagination to a design on a piece of paper and then from raw materials to the finished product always gives me a thrill.
Secondly, the work is as much about feeling job satisfaction as renumeration. So, no matter how simple the job I have to do, I always need it to be a job that I've put my heart and soul into.
This leads to a constant striving for the current job to be the best I've ever done. It's the trying that keeps it challenging, interesting and allows my work to be a source of pleasure in my life.
